TikTok is enhancing its mental health support features with the introduction of guided meditation directly within the app, aimed at helping users maintain a balanced and healthy mindset.
The platform is launching a new feature that guides users through meditation exercises using animated prompts. These visuals are designed to assist users in managing their breathing and achieving a sense of calm. This new tool is integrated into TikTok’s sleep reminders, encouraging users to take intentional breaks from endless scrolling.
According to TikTok, research supports the positive impact of mindfulness and meditation on sleep quality for people of all ages. As part of the rollout, the app will introduce the Meditation in Sleep Hours feature to all users, with automatic activation for teens under 18. If a teen is using the app after 10 p.m., their feed will pause and redirect them to a short meditation session to help them unwind.
TikTok shared promising results from its initial testing phase:
“98% of teens who experienced our meditation feature chose to keep it on.”
Although the effects of meditation can vary from person to person, making mindfulness tools easily accessible may help more people adopt healthy habits and manage stress effectively.
Additionally, TikTok has teamed up with child psychiatrist Dr. Willough Jenkins to create a new video series highlighting the Meditation in Sleep Hours experience and its benefits in real-time use.
